Censored, 2010 Collage

Beauty is extracted, refined, bottled and available for sale at every juncture. It lives on every magazine, television screen and painted generously on young starlet's faces. To the ingenues and the guileless, it's a trap. A wound she didn't nurture, a hurt she didn't know she had. And the hurt turned to a thirst, and the thirst became a hunger. The desire for beauty is dually intoxicating and noxious. The few that attempted to see her truth within her felt her hollowness, and decided they wanted a better brand of elegance. She's left to her own devices, devouring bottles of beauty, wishing she can pretty her way to happy. Societies machine, full metal and gnashing teeth cannibalize on naivete and innocent dreams; leaving only a shell of vanity in its wake.
