Where would a person fit in the contemporary world of art, someone who is situated on the edge of the margins, who lives in the deepest nature and who rows across a foothill lake to get to his home-land? Where do the wild people dwell in the contemporary age? People who have left the city to merge with the forest, the land and the water, who made themselves native to the land and began to live with the spirits that surrounds her, who learned to cultivate their own food and build their shelter. “There are other worlds, but they are within this one”, said the poet Paul Eluard; and therefore my proposal is to show one of those many worlds where humans and nature merged by choice, without having been born into an indigenous culture. I started this series with waste papers that were left over from printed photographs in the process of making a unique book. I cut them out and painted them, achieving an assemblage of my three artistic loves: painting, collage and photography. Later, I used photocopies and different photographic papers, some of which I painted manually. Finally, I incorporated cyanotypes and, in a magical act, my grandfather's diary appeared. When reviewing it, fascinated with the aesthetics of his calligraphy, I discover that it was the intimate diary of his communion. My merging and that of my clan with nature thus found a resemblance with that of my grandfather in his longing to the divine.

My name is Maria Alejandra Piovano and born at 8 of november of 1957 in the then quiet spa of Mar del Plata and although the family moves to the city of Buenos Aires when i was five years old, it is not a minor fact that from my youth i lived by the water, that fluid is indispensable to my wellbein. Does one become an artist? Why it happens? Is born with one or do you become the circumstances? I was a girl who could not stand school , soi clung to thecolored pencils, the temperas, the scissors to cut , the books, the music and the dance, and my room became my world within the world, and all that has been nourishment since then, the guilding thead of the girl to the adult. My life today is between a beach in the northof Uruguay and a farm in lake Epuyen, Argentine Patagonia and art as a common thread.
