About The Artwork
What I love about collage is the effortless way one can join disparate elements to make a new and exciting outcome. These images all come from vintage magazines and animal annuals. The 60s was a great time for mass printing of DIY magazines and due to the birth of environmental awareness, animals were a big selling point for publications too. The everyday lives we lead in the affluent West do not in anyway reflect the precarious nature of our place in the world. Our neglect and over consumption have depleted animals habitats to the extent that we are in danger of entering into another catastrophic extinction. But in a light heated way there are many comical juxtapositions to be made with collage and the visual arts. I use the word humanimal to encompass my practice, all the collages I make are made entirely from existing materials.

Tim makes work about the division, opposition and collusion between animals and humans. Drawing, performance, assemblage, film, collage, oil painting and the re-use of materials and objects is central to his work. Tim won the Ovalhouse prize at Chelsea College of Art, and Gloucester University prize at the Open West in 2015. He is a member of the committee of the Newlyn Society of Artists. Has exhibited in Berlin and Baku Zdonov in the Czech Republic and is represented by Daisy Laing, Penzance, Avalon in Marazion and Jupiter Newlyn.
