About The Artwork

Inspiration for me is always nature and especially forest. For me this work illustrates peace and beauty of wild nature, play of light and shade... This work also belongs to my original concept called "Second Life"- works made of only natural flowers and leaves on wooden hardboard, only with ecological, natural materials... Here are used at least 25 species of plants collected in different national parks of Georgia. They are prepared beforehand in herbarium, which gives possibility to save their structure and colors for a long years. Of course this conceptual works demand much more time and labor then oil or acrylic painting for example ( which i do as well).

My name is Nani Potskhverashvili. I'm an artist from Georgia, I run my own gallery and workshop in Tbilisi. I'm an artist with academical painting background, using several mixed techniques. One of them can be bravely called my invention " Second Life" - Nature that is going to die in several days, weeks, I'm giving chance on Second Life, and probably gifting them immortality. I'm creating paintings of various themes: portrait, still life, abstract, landscape with natural flowers and leaves. Using about 200 of verities of plants from around the world. I'm traveling a lot selecting and making herbariums beforehand. My technique saves their colors and structures for a long years, oldest one I own is 15 years old, still as fresh as newly finished. Making works with this technique takes much more time and effort than my works made of oil, acrylic or other materials.
