Hibiscus and Heliconia Collage

This piece is striking with its bold colours and tropical theme. A depth has been created with the layering of foliage and flowers and the circular shape adds to the sense of a more organic structure. Pink Hibiscus symbolise femininity, friendship and love. The Lobster Claw plant or Heliconia is named after Mount Helicon, which in Greek mythology is the home of the inspirational goddesses of literature, science and arts. It represents youth pride and great returns. Inspired by the many gardens, flowers and foliage seen whilst living and working in Dubai. A love for flowers and colour has been a lifelong passion and here they are immortalised in paper. Watercolour and Acrylic painted paper collage. Gold leaf is added for the Heliconia flowers which adds a luxurious shimmer. Mounted on 20" deep edge wood panel.
