This dynamic and vivid collage celebrates Katherine Johnson's extraordinary life. A mathematical genius, she broke through barriers of race and gender, becoming a trailblazing African American woman in NASA's predominantly male space program. Crucial in the early days of space exploration, she executed intricate mathematical calculations for missions including Mercury 7 and Apollo 11. Remarkably, as NASA transitioned to electronic computing, astronaut John Glenn specifically requested Johnson's confirmation of the orbital math performed by the IBM computer before he would embark upon his landmark journey. Her legacy, marked by intelligence, courage, and tenacity, truly defines her as a trailblazer!
