About The Artwork

Colorful, painted mid-century magazines collaged in the constructivist tradition. Red and some blacks are acrylic paint to add contrast to the delicate cut magazine collage. This original collage is archival glued onto acid-free Strathmore bristol paper. Visual area is 11x 14 inches with an additional two inch boarder for framing purposes. No mat nor frame included. Ships in protected cardboard box. It is the inherent nature for vintage inks and papers to change color. This aging is what brings beautiful patina to vintage paper. It is advised to use UV protective glass for this artwork. Please note that the artist's touch is apart of the work to be admired in collage. A smudge of glue, irregular lines, all adds to its uniqueness and personality and carry on the tradition of such famous artist's Kurt Schwitters and El Lissitzky.

My collage material comes from mid-century magazines and found papers which I paint. As the collage takes shape, additional paint or markings are added to enhance certain elements. I am intrigued by the possibilities of arrangement and structure. My paintings develop in the same fashion. There are rhythms; playing with the formal elements, exemplifying the beauty of shape, texture and color. The work infers architecture, landscape and sometimes music. The creation of the work is a straightforward process; paper forms are laid next to each other until there is unity. It is a practice of free-association and deep-rooted discovery.
