About The Artwork

Realizing a lot of things, one that Isolation and loneliness are a place where creativity flows or either we allow ourselves more time for it. This work was created during the self isolation period during a Covid 19 on April 26, 2020. I was thinking about the many countries effected and the people who have died. I remembered as a child being handed by a WW2 Veteran a fake red poppy with a Green stem and a green candy like center. Since that day, I have always had a love for poppies and regard them as a flower of remembrance. One to be esteemed as significant as we remember lost lives of people we love. This mixed media painting was intuitive in nature since from the beginning I had no plan for the outcome. I laid out my pieces as I pondered this new life under quarantine and just started painting. The only thing I did know for sure is that there would be Poppies. Keriah Series
