Trees have always been symbolic of families and it is the image that we use to trace our ancestry. This tree is composed of images of people from around the world. There layers upon layers of hidden symbolism that reflect race, privilege, class, and politics. The construction of this tree started as a personal examination of my own privilege as a migrant. The tree is made off many layers of magazines attached. It is backed with canvas and a wood stretcher at the top in order for it to hang. The magazines pop out to add a 3 dimensional texture to the entire collage.
