About The Artwork

(From the series: Annotations to an Eisegesis) Triptych Collage Three pieces of 25x25 cms "Every great or even every very good writer makes theworld over according to his own specifications. It’s akin to style, what I’m talking about, but it isn’t style alone. It is the writer’s particular and unmistakable signature on everything he writes. It is his world and no other. This is one of the things that distinguishes one writer from another." Raymond Carver After reading these statements by American writer Raymond Carver, I analyze his first published story - "Furious Seasons" - and one of the last texts he wrote -"On Longer Stories"-, trying to compose with some words of the last text a phrase that was part of the first one, in order to find this signature that Carver told about, the essence that survives over the years in the work of an author. After the analysis, the only phrase I can find is “What are you goig to do?”, as if the writer himself wonders unconsciously what is he going to do, in which ways is his literature changing or what is he thinking about controversial decisions taken by his editor Gordon Lish. “What are you going to do?”, a question that persisted from the beginning of his career as a writer to the end of his life.
