About The Artwork

I live in a beautiful seaside town called Hermanus. It's about a 2-hour drive from Cape Town in South Africa. It's famous for whale watching and the arts. I typically walk along the sea-path every day with my wee schnauzer dog. The seascapes are forever changing and have found this huge black boulder that sits precariously on a smaller rock. it's surrounded by other jagged rocks and constantly bashed by the crashing waves and incoming tide. I love the drama of the ocean and this rock and how it changes color with the different weather. In this art piece, I wanted to express the various shades of black in the rock. The original painting is in acrylic and vibrant in colour. Here I have photographed it, put it into Adobe Photoshop and stripped the image back to black&white and used various filters to create this look. I like the idea of taking my original art and seeing how far I can re-use these images for others works. This is then printed on to Plexiglass at a professional printer in Cape Town. This was chosen to bring our the beautiful colours. It will look stunning in any collection.
