Bastien. I asked, via Grindr, if he wanted to be a model. "Shy," I thought, "and not again." He took off his clothes, and the moment he gently pulled down his underpants ... I started to draw. Yes, he was shy, as you can see in the body language. A complex man, ultimately with little interest in art but more for sex. After drawing, I gave him what he had not received at home for years: in exchange for this drawing.. So I'm basically a "drawingwhore". And he? He was less shy than I thought... This drawing, "Bastien" is the first of a series of model drawings that I started this past year. Sex could be the common thread, but it is not. It is about feeling, emotion, atmosphere, body language and men. Naked men who act as models for me and where I try to translate the personality of each model, or the sometimes tense, horny, open and cheerful atmosphere, that i translate on paper, canvas and photos. On my own way! As written, this is the first drawing of the "Change" series. The name was chosen because I put a dot behind the biggest enemy in my head: "What will people think of it?" I no longer care what others think. I make art that I find interesting without wondering if ...? I don't wonder anymore!

Welcome to the vibrant world of Paul Harmsen, a versatile Dutch artist who paints, creates captivating videos, and designs unique artwear, gaywear, menswear. Born in Doetinchem, Netherlands, Paul's artistic journey took a transformative turn when he transitioned from a successful hairdressing career to pursue his passion at the Gerrit Rietveld art academy in Amsterdam. With a background in costume design for television and theater, Paul's artistic spirit was temporarily overshadowed. In 2018, Paul and his husband moved to Aix en Provence, and despite facing the challenges of the Covid era, Paul embraced new artistic endeavors. His relocation to Spain in 2002, marked the inception of "Paulsartworld," a pioneering fashion company specializing in menswear adorned with prints inspired by his eclectic artworks.
