About The Artwork

Original Pen and Ink drawing by Marce King. Sold Unframed. Most of my work is currently inspired by lgbtiqa+, non-binary, gender fluid and transgender people. It tackles gender identity and expression, tied in many ways to my own life experiences. My figures can sometimes be read as masculine or feminine, but should not be interpreted as binary 'male' or 'female'. The main figure is in black pen. I love drawing in pen as it's unforgiving and demands restraint and control. I also enjoy the end look of pen and reminds me of my printmaking days and etching and line work in Lithography. The coloured ink was added after the figure was drawn so it could be placed in the specific position on the figure. The colours of yellow and purple have been chosen purposefully and are inspired by the nonbinary pride flag.
