About The Artwork

This drawing is inspired by the different roads that we travel in life. During that journey, an endless number of events occur, and with time, some become abstractions. This transformation was done using a dip pen technique to obtain lines of varying thickness to enrich the drawing. In addition, I used watercolor instead of ink to take advantage of the variety of shades of gray that this medium offers me. Overview of the drawing • This drawing shows a transformation of a person during the pathways of life, represented by distortions and abstraction using a dip pen • Name: “Distorsiones del Camino” (Distortions of the Pathway) • Original black watercolor and dip pen drawing on Fabriano “Hot Pressed” watercolor paper, signed by the artist Pablo Montes O’Neill • Size: Paper size = 20" x 14" (1/2" of paper/white space around) Drawing size = 19" x 13" • Note that this drawing is delivered unframed. • Certificate of Authenticity provided

I seek to project authentic, intimate interpretations of the world I encounter. As a native of Puerto Rico, I am influenced by the characters, emotions, images, and colors associated with the island. Sometimes I turn to my childhood memories to address the existential questions I want to express. I've recently explored the concepts of time, energy, light, and space through my paintings and drawings. This has led me to work with hybrid subjects and media that can converge figuration with traits of abstraction and surrealism. I use symbolism and distortions to bridge the figures and their environment, creating scenes where surrounding energies and time metaphors serve as the glue of an idea.
