About The Artwork

This is a diptych of two paper panels measuring 19.1 x 12.4 Inches each (not including borders) mounted on japanese rice paper. Note*A 0.5cm< border has been left around 'Duality of Mind' for framing (can be trimmed off if need be). This thin border has remnant stains from masking tape and colour tests.. Please don't hesitate to request more detailed images of the piece. (Both panels, including the borders for framing, measures 25.6 x 19.7 Inches) Recommended distance between both panels - about 3.3 Inches -------------------------------------------- 'Duality of Mind' ponders the dual nature of one's consciousness and the often uncertain, constantly shifting times that we live in, that creates a feeling of dissonance and limbo as the self tries to navigate and find clarity in the infoxication that surrounds it. Harmony, wholeness and unity is strived for to shift the self towards new possibilities, focus and directions as this discordance is overcome. Several elements were used to convey this concept, including that influenced by the abstract minimalist compositions of traditional Japanese & Chinese ink paintings using 'yohaku' blank spaces, and the ancient symbolism of circles and the number 7. -------------------------------------------- Medium: Luna Aquarell Staedtler colour pencils, Mungyo Soft Pastels, White Chalk Pencil & Charcoal Pencil on Canson Mi-Teintes Paper (160g/m highest cotton content pastel paper on market - over 50% ) 'Duality of Mind' is signed in the front, and comes with a signed 'Certificate of Authenticity', with details of the piece. Protected with Krylon Archival Workable Fixative. SHIPPED FLAT : To ensure your artpiece reaches you in optimum condition, it will be shipped to you Flat. It comes wrapped in archival lignen & acid-free japanese rice tissue paper and protective Daler Rowney (alkaline-sized and pH neutral) mountingboard.

Every step of my Creative process, from conception, to creation of my final art-piece, is derived and created 100% without ANY Artificial Intelligence image generation assistance. It's been my privilege to explore and delve into the myriad creative wonders of this artistic profession for over 15 years. To quote Christopher Hitchens, trying to "..... keep opposing ideas alive in the same mind" is truly what inspires (and frustrates) me daily. Pulling all these apparently divergent realities together, and then, breathing life into the resultant amalgamation in a way that speaks true to those who behold it on canvas, is an incredibly satisfying challenge. In so doing, I strive to create work that envisages the eternal explorations of 'truth' - that intangible carrot that teases us forward.. and that binds us as humans, irrespective of race, religion or the confines of social norms... Growing up in the urban multi racial & cultural, sunny shores of Malaysia, with Anglo-Indian descent, has undoubtedly shaped my worldview and driven me to always try to represent diversity in my work as much as possible. My conceptual pieces are usually developed and inspired by what lurks within the pages of my second love - books, and the inevitable influences of the unique and 'exciting' times we live in.. I see the persistent honing of my artistic skills as integral to creating, and exploring and developing my skills in differing mediums and techniques is one of the many amazing and ever inspiring parts of the process. If any piece tickles your fancy or if you have any queries(*please don't hesitate to request more detailed pictures and angles of my artwork if you wish), drop me a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible! Choose what speaks to you,... A piece you love will be a companion for life.. If you would like to get to know me a little better, do check out my website or my blogs.
