About The Artwork

Charlie Chaplin once said, "We must laugh in the face of our helplessness against the forces of nature, or go insane. Laughter is a tonic, a relief from mental disorder and pain." Watching Tom and Jerry has been a laughter tonic throughout my life journey. From childhood until today, I have cherished and enjoyed every moment of Tom & Jerry's antics. In April 2020, I discovered that the American illustrator Gene Deitch, who was responsible for creating these beloved characters, had passed away. On the very same day, I decided to pay tribute to this legend through my drawing. This artwork holds a plethora of emotions, and it is extremely dear to my heart. The choice of using pencil, charcoal, and watercolor pencils in this piece was not based on any particular reason, but rather on the emotional flow that Tom and Jerry evoke in me. Both characters are deeply connected to my happiness and laughter, which inspired the artistic process.

For over a decade, I have immersed myself in the art culture of Europe and currently reside in Budapest, Hungary. Although I was born and raised in Indian spirituality, my passion for sketching and drawing has always been immense, yet unfulfilled until later in life. Over time, I embraced my artistic journey as a self-taught slow learner and successfully obtained my Diploma in Graphic Design from the UK's Blackford Center. In 2015, I made the decision to become a full-time artist, following my heart's calling. I have a deep fondness for all pastel mediums, but as an artist, I also explore watercolor, acrylic, and charcoal, using them as tools to learn, grow, and enhance my creativity, enriching my life in the process.
