About The Artwork

A contemporary maritime Guernica, created with the National Portrait Gallery for 'Creative Connections - Southampton', symbolizes the city as a sanctuary and its connection to the evacuation of 4,000 children from Guernica during the Spanish Civil War. It is an anti-war piece referencing global issues like conflicts, migration, and the war on plastics. Exhibited in Southampton 2023 and Art Capital Paris 2024. Heading to Venice June 2024 at Musa International Pavilion. The project is showcased at the National Portrait Gallery London in their Learning Centre. I am looking to sell or exhibit this piece else where afterwards. It is a very loaded piece with references from Ukraine to Iran and the indigenous persecution and the refugee crisis. The names of the 57 different cites ( not room for every one) that have also been bombed from the air with massive civilian death, since Picasso was inspired to create Guernica in 1937. This 'conversation with Picasso' won the Taylor Fondation Prix in Paris. It can be wall hung or perhaps hung/rigged as central piece in a large exhibition space. I can also create similar bespoke pieces for your exhibition or collection. Follow my iG page @petecodling - Artist and the dedicated page for this drawing iG @The_Kinship_Drawing
