About The Artwork

In 2005 I made this drawing after my mum had had a stroke and we were visiting her. My brother Connell is reading her favourite magazine 'Irelands Own' to her through a rolled up newspaper. She was killed in the notorious now scrapped Liverpool Care Pathway Scheme which murdered old and infirm ‘Care? No, this is a pathway to killing people that doctors deem worthless' (Phillips, 2012) and ‘60,000 patients put on death pathway without being told but minister still says controversial end-of-life plan is “fantastic”’ (Groves et al, 2012), ‘Half of those on Liverpool Care Pathway never told’ (Donnelly, 2012), and ‘NHS millions for controversial care pathway’ (Bingham, 2012).

As my father said ‘we are not working class, we just come from the poorest section of the community in Ireland - never mind England' apologies for mentioning that. Went to Norwich School of Art graduated and after some grafting I went to advertising, worked with some talented writers and some famous photographers…Art Kane, Helmut Newton, Elliot Erwitt, Guy Bourdin, Jean Loup-Sieff, Don McCullin, Peter Lindbergh. Horst P Horst and Brian Griffin. In my spare time - Conceived and directed a one minute Greenpeace Global Warming Frog commercial ( outside of advertising agencies and their help ) it won a Clio. Then it was used by in much lauded film - An Inconvenient Truth. That experience taught me a lot. I have been lucky enough a reasonable variety of musical artists some like Al Green, The Reverend Gary Davis, Rufus Thomas, Earl Hines, Bob Marley and the Wailers, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Free, Cream, The Kinks, Keith Jarrett, Jimmy Smith, Lonnie Smith, Miles Davis, Jethro Tull, Ten Years After, Chicago, The Doors, Lighthouse, The Who, Nice, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Joan Baez, Free, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Kris Kristofferson, Donovan, Ralph McTell, Toots and the Maytals, Terry Reid, Taste, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Rory Gallagher and on and on to mention a few.
