About The Artwork

This artwork is 16 x 19 x 0.1 inches unframed and 25 x 28 x 2 inches framed. This intimately sized surrealist drawing depicts in the foreground a humanoid cephalopod posed confidently with its blue-skinned shoulders, chest, and abdomen are exposed and it wears a medieval European close helm and white pleated skirt. Its red tentacles arching downwards by its sides. At first read, the dark silver background seems relatively homogenous. However, upon a closer second read the viewer will notice that it is charged with detailed graphics that contain words in English and Russian. This artwork is signed and sold FRAMED with the backside labeled, wired, and ready for hanging. Frame materials are: painted gesso on wood, mat board, and museum glass. It will be sealed in protective plastic, packaged into a foam-padded strong box, and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

Surrealist Painter - Michael Diniz Swingler is a Brazilian-American. Rational, but generally feels that there is something more to existence just beyond his understanding. As a result, his work is firmly rooted in realistic figures, objects, and landscapes that have detoured into complicated abstractions. He uses classical oil painting techniques on canvas or panel and usually pulls ideas from sketchbook wanderings and academic re-workings. He does not always begin with a specific plan, so my processes vary. Live models and photographic references are employed when realism is important. His brushwork tends to be refined and premeditated, even when trying to work loose and spontaneously. An artwork is finished when he says so and will usually not be considered as "completed" until it has been varnished and framed. Ultimately, he wants his artworks to command respect for their level of skill, spark conversations due to their content and composition, and be worthy of remembrance by remaining visible in public collections where they may appreciate in value.
