We are made of the same substance as dreams; and in the space and time of a dream our short life is contained ". William Shakespeare, The Tempest I love to float, proceed by suggestions given by verses like this. Knowledge for me follows the trend of dreams and memories, concepts and notions are just a pretext. I love to put together different ideas that emerge in freedom, to talk about us. So talking about the connection between art and dream for me means to talk about each of us, because we all dream and we can all potentially make art. The link between art and dream is intuitive, evident everywhere the artist's subjectivity expresses itself without filters through images. Think of pictorial images, but also of theatrical representations, or the plot of images of a literary text. Often the theme of the dream is declared, programmatic, as for the surrealists or for Alice in the wonderland. However, in many contemporary works the influence of the dream remains underground, because their priority is to express concepts that stimulate the intellect. In this case the dream filters through the aspiration to break our conventional gaze on things, to identify new ways and affect reality, coming to question the very limits of what is art. Very often we hear about imaginary, fantasy, as if art were the creation from nothing of something totally new, "new" especially because it is distant or not present in reality. This is also the dimension of utopia, which expresses the aspiration to an ideal of reality, which however does not exist in "no place". Yet the starting material for producing art is never entirely new and we all possess it, even if it is unique. What makes a creation something that seems new, in the sense of original, is the way in which the work is assembled: the look of the artist and his expressive ability translated into a language (or more languages together) that creates meanings .
