Dad, I love you. Dad, I hate you. Dad, I love to love you. Dad, I hate to hate you. Dad, I hate to love you. Dad, I love to hate you. Dad, I hate to hate. Dad, I love to love. Dad, I forgive you. Dad, I forgive me. In The poem that never came out of my mouth, LFM confronts the following questions: Is our desire to conquer love and respect from our parents the real motivators in our lives? How childhood traumas infantilize adults emotionally? What happens to us when our parents past away? Can we truly forgive? What happens to our modus operandi when we finally deal with our issues from the past? In this piece, LFM uses a pencil to draw guidelines that support his childlike handwriting. The numerous rubber marks on the sheet of paper evoke his fear of failure and his childish desire to “be perfect” in the eyes of others. LFM embraces the idea that one should draw without an eraser to learn from previous attempts…
