About The Artwork
Created after the original by Paul Gauguin. In my vision, I imagined that the child was about to be saved by the figure towards the back of the image, as opposed to being exploited by Gauguin. I've removed the fear from her face that he was so pleased to have included in the original. The fire is the anger I feel every time I read his writings about the people he depicted.
