About The Artwork

This on-site charcoal drawing of the first catkins appearing on the aspen tree in spring was done on March 27, 2006 as part of a series titled Winter Into Spring. Each day I drew a tree, the trees in my yard, out my window, and then as the weather warmed up, out in the aspen forest. Each drawing was 11" x 11" using a variety of black and white media. I started on the first day of spring and went through to the first day of summer. The trees are a constant inspiration for my work. Viewing my drawings has increased the awareness of our natural environment and made people more sensitive to the trees that surround us.
