Frozen History, Cut and Conserved Installation

Dimensions in 5 rows of 5: 94 x 95 x 9 cm (H 36 5/8 ",W 37 3/8", D 3 5/8") It’s what the title says: part of Anne’s personal history, frozen in time, was put in 25 glass containers. You can’t read it; it’s just captured and preserved, enigmatic as a message in a bottle, floating in the ocean. The history: Anne Klein H. wrote a book some 10 years ago, about suffering and recovering from brain cancer. For the art piece she took two chapters, wrote the considering 24 pages, by hand in Indian ink on Canson paper, put a stamp of authenticity on each individual page, then fumbled and tied up each one of the 24 papers with copper wire, and put the thus tied up wads –now unreadable- in 24 prepared glass containers. Finally she covered the lids with delicate copper leaf, sealed the containers and hung them with leather straps to the wall. She added a 25th glass container containing a USB stick with the pictures of each of the 24 pages before fumbling. These pages are in Dutch, Anne's mother language, but again somehow enigmatic as very few speak Dutch. The work is both tender and existential, for the personal content, the handwriting and the symbolic copper and binding. Hand engraved text on the containers: 'Frozen History, cut and conserved', numbers 1 to 25, at the bottom of each container the key-word of the considering page. To be hung to the wall by the hand cut leather straps with little nails.
