"Metallaxis I", is embroidered on round 40cm canvas, using red silk thread to resemble the blood vessels: is part of a series based on old drawings of surreal anatomical designs. Human anatomy is blended with elements of the physical world as a comment to our common origins and at times the odd imagery highlights a deep connection to the "outsiders", i.e everything that surround us. What triggered the "transfer" from paper to canvas and from ink to thread, was the reaction of my two toddlers when seeing my sketches, always wanted to touch and "feel" the design. Suddenly I realized what was missing from the paper and the drawing, the "feeling of highs and lows, curves and lines under the tip of my hands". The silk thread is soft to the touch and it balances with the sharpness of the image, the human anatomy. And unlike the usual suggestion to NOT touch the paintings, I do invite you to caress and feel the work.
