Four quilted figures dance. These are Moko Jumbies and originate from the Dan Tribe in West Africa. They are stilt walkers representing the spirit people said to be able to span the living and spirit worlds. In Trinidad at Carnival time the Moko Jumbies walk again. The black tulle silhouette behind them suggest our ancestors, all stitched together on a quilt indicating the intimacy and safety of family and belonging.

I am a multi-disciplined artist working primarily in oil paint, watercolour and quilting. I explore liminal time in my work. I am interested in the past and present and what comes between, the connections we make in our life and day to day living. I draw inspiration from life stories and try to glimpse fleeting moments and savour them.
