About The Artwork

This female nude owes its title to the light garment the woman shown here is wearing. Or, more exactly, the garment she seems to take off, which reinforces the title: by removing her "negligee", the model undresses a little more ("déshabillé" means "undressed" in French). And yet, covered with the colors of an urban fresco that totally blends with her body, this woman does not appear as naked but on the contrary as dressed in a second skin, a skin evoking ancient or medieval polychromy. This painting is a one-of-a-kind piece made in mixed technique on canvas combining photography, digital composition and acrylic painting (multiple transparent glazes that give a lacquered effect and raised squares). The work is framed in black wood (total dimensions: approximately 46 x 66 x 3.5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 60 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
