About The Artwork
"Demeter" is an evocation of the Greek goddess of agriculture and harvest. Daughter of Cronos and Rhea, she symbolizes abundance, fertility, good harvests, hence her generous shapes and sensual curves. Here, the framing of the work focuses on the chest and stomach, in a very unstructured treatment, like a checkerboard that fragments the body into a thousand pieces without altering the readability of the whole image. This artwork is a paintography, that is to say a unique piece made in mixed technique on canvas which combines photography, digital composition and acrylic painting (many layers of transparent glaze and squares in relief). The artwork is framed in black wood (total dimensions: approximately 84 x 84 x 3.5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 60 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
