My work is about a living, moving response to places: movement, feelings, light, life, and emotion; it is not about a realistic photographic representation. This piece is about capturing the essence of the Fourth Estuary, a silent sliver thread that has threaded through my life since 2009; it is a place I am drawn to, a place that grounds me, a place I pray, a place I reflect by, a place I move through and a place I write. The piece was created live in the foyer of a Fringe venue in 2014 and then featured in several exhibitions. I have kept the piece in my private collection of work, but now I have decided it is time to find the work a home in which it could be appreciated. It is currently hung in a narrow, windowless hall. The work is created with a technique called applied surface; I moved from the traditional painting method around 2010, and for me, it was a natural progression. I graduated from Cumbria College of Art & Design; Design (University of Cumbria) after six years of art school (1999), and since then, I have continued my creative practice. In recent years, I have returned back to education and currently studying for a PhD.
