About The Artwork

This work belongs to the series "The Queen" which addresses the question of power in the form of portraits of queens in various postures. Here, "Freedom" evokes an aspect that is often forgotten when it comes to power, that of the total servitude which weighs on those who lead. Power is every day and all day, it's a permanent responsibility. And finally, the only moment of freedom for those who have power is when they sleep and can escape through dreams. This is the reason why this Queen who sleeps and seems to be dreaming embodies a paradoxical freedom, that of no longer being subject to her own power. This painting is a unique piece in mixed technique on canvas that mixes photography, digital composition and acrylic painting. The surface is shiny, with raised squares. The work is framed in black wood (total dimensions: approximately 106 x 106 x 3.5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 60 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
