I am fascinated by the language of visual art - by its inherit storytelling, by its language. I believe looking at art is a couple’s dance. All the captured moments which play out between artist and viewer through a simple, often brief glance. This collection celebrates the striking, imperfect, dance of observation. I adore the misunderstandings. I live for the nuances of profound expression. I used to see new art in magazines, galleries, and books. Information too, news, science, literature, movies; all of it flowed into me when and I left my studio and went out into the world. Now, I receive new information exclusively from screens. I no longer watch the sky when a storm approaches, I watch the weather radar. In my childhood I struggled with autism. My need for quiet solitude led to a profound love of skygazing. A practice that, no matter how violent the world or the sky, still grants me peace. The value of my collection is not only in the individual pieces, but also in the reminder to look up and dream. Clouds are universal and watching them activates a potent force – imagination. The sky moves as we watch it, subtly or quickly altering - an endless dance. In this collection I use mark making as a map which guides the viewer into my world, inviting them to interact with my ephemeral escape. Offering them a glimpse into my imagination and how clouds have powered it through my life and travels. My photographs depict cloudscapes captured from the limited perspective of commercial airplane windows. I transform these commonplace photos into fantastical glittering experiences. When viewed from a static screen or page, each piece is still, contained. But as soon as a viewer sees my work, a conversation, a dance begins. It is unique. Height, lighting, angle of approach, each tiny difference creates an irreplicable experience, similar but individual, like the clouds my work depicts.

Williams’s abstract spaces are an ode to an imperfect language. Through motion, she makes marks that translate thought - subconscious – a viscerally understood language. Williams works from her hometown of Chattanooga, Tennessee. In 2009 she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Next, Williams received a full scholarship to complete her Master's in Printmaking in 2012 at SCAD-Atlanta. Williams worked at SCAD‘s Southeastern Center for Printmaking. There, she worked on an ambitious print collection with Kiki Smith and Valerie Hammond. Initially working as an assistant printer, Williams was indispensable to the project and was promoted to the assistant project manager. On the heels of this project, Williams founded, managed, and co-owned Straw Hat Press, which specialized in fine art publishing and contract printing. As Straw Hat flourished, Williams realized that despite her success in printmaking, she would always be devoted to her love of drawing. Subsequently, she left Atlanta and returned to her hometown to pursue her career as a gallery artist, where she is still drawing.
