About The Artwork

Paint my Face was created by painting my Artwork on top of a printed image, giving the feeling of two images within one. In Native American cultures, a white face was used to illustrate a divine presence, ritual power and celestial power. They believed that their spirits and gods were connected to their white paint. It was also used to make a statement of protection, purpose, and authority. At its core, face painting is a form of expression and has been used since the beginning of time to represent a person’s identity, connection to family and the spirit world, and individual uniqueness. The white color indicates hope, purity, and light. Songwriter Bernhard says “'Paint My Face' talks reincarnation and unlived lives. It partially discusses being a musician or an artist. It's like a letter written to a child I don't know saying death is not the end, as I believe, it's the beginning of another life.”

Im a female artist from Cape Town, South Africa. I have been painting for the last 20 years, with no formal art education. My journey started with a box of Vintage Dress Patterns which was turned into a skirt on a metal wired Mannequin and from there to canvas. I have sold many pieces all over the world like Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Madagascar, San Francisco, New York etc. I have exhibited in London at the Art of Africa Gallery. Currently Im working with good old fashion Brown Paper and Vintage Navigation Charts. I only sketch woman and make use of pencils, charcoal and Acrylic paint.
