About The Artwork
I had been holding on to my boyfriends' black armband since about 1970. The Viet Nam war era. I knew one day I'd use it for something. Due to all the current wars and conflicts, I felt the need to speak out artistically against wars and the resulting needless killing. I think most of the symbolism is apparent - the armband, the bullets, a womans' handkerchief, soldiers, the faces on their sides symbolizing death.
