Quickstitch Scarlet was created on Vintage Industrial Dress Pattern. The meaning of the expression “paint the town red” is to go out and have the time of your life. Scarlet is a vivid red colour and also associated with courage, passion and joy. The protagonist of Gone with the Wind, Scarlett O'Hara, is known for her headstrong and outspoken character. She is also known for her nearly irresistible allure in the world in Gone with the Wind. Scarlett can be seen as symbolizing resilience and strength of character. Im a female artist from Cape Town, South Africa. I have been painting for the last 20 years, with no formal art education. My journey started with a box of Vintage Dress Patterns which was turned into a skirt on a metal wired Mannequin and from there to canvas. I have sold many pieces all over the world like Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Madagascar, San Francisco, New York etc. I have exhibited in London at the Art of Africa Gallery. Currently Im working with good old fashion Brown Paper and Vintage Navigation Charts. I only sketch woman and make use of pencils, charcoal and Acrylic paint.
