About The Artwork

Although she stages the dancer who posed for the whole series "Dancer in the Dark", this work is apart because it is not dance that she speaks but rather of sexual identity and l Integrity of the body through a somewhat fantastic creature, devoid of head, a sort of human arch that we do not know which way to approach it. This headless body is also a nod to Hans Bellmer's "Doll", a surreal sculpture which gives its name to this contemporary painting more than 80 years later ... This work is produced in mixed technique on canvas, it combines photographs, digital art and acrylic painting. It is a unique piece requiring several days of work for the realization of transparent glazes with acrylic and raised squares. The painting is signed on the back and framed in black (framed dimensions: 46 x 46 x 3,5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 60 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
