About The Artwork
This painting was inspired by my appreciation for Barnett Newman. I have always had a special place for his work within myself. Getting to see his original ONEMENT in person was a sublime event, I had seen his interviews so many times that when I did see it in person (Thanks to Joseph Marioni who let me stay at his home for that trip) I felt like I had felt his presence beside me which really welled me up and almost made me start crying on the spot. I always knew I wanted to make a dedication painting for him and this is the main one, aside from my love for the Red, Yellow and Blue paintings.
