This is a scene from Brighton Beach in Brooklyn, NY. This particular series of paintings represents the diversity of this beach but also emphasizes a common theme in my paintings which I think is typical of the New York experience, that of togetherness but aloneness. I've chose to eliminate a lot of the extra bags and debris on the beach and open up the landscape, which gives it an empty feeling.
