About The Artwork
Birch wood panel was formerly a shelf. Wood sealed with amber shellack before painting. Panel itself has the thin 1/4 inch profile of a plywood sheet but the cradled structure to which it's attached suspends and stand the piece off the wall 1.5" lending it a floating appearance. It is ready to hang. Improvised gestural abstraction is a cathartic practice involving balance, weight, temperature and tone. It is a dance of movement generating movement. The animated mark making at the time of painting remains an animation in constant motion.
