I love the wood. It´s a magical and mysterious place, deeply-rooted in our emotional feeling. Just think the origin of the architecture. The first hypostyles buildings, as the Karkak Hall in Luxor, or the beautiful mosque of Cordoba, are a metaphor of the wood. The columns represent the tree trunk and the capitals symbolize the fronds. The architectural geometry prosaically repeats itself with the logic of the farming structure of a poplar plantation, as we can see moving along farmland. But the vision of the poplar trunks, perceived in motion, cancels any logical principle and trace back to the fantastic kinetic play of the wood dimness. I took some picture of the Navarra’s woods, close to Orreaga (Roncesvalles), therefore I imagine to set there a woody date of a fawn and a little fairy. Then I saw in the coffee bar of the Bilbao Guggenheim Museum a great nice painting (4x10 meters). I asked about and results that was a work of a Basque painter, born in Donostia (San Sebastián): Juan Pérez Agirregoikoa. The painting represent a night wood, with a fawn hidden inside, and in foreground a great heart, engraved in the bark of a tree, saying: “KNAVES LOVE FOOLS”. The artist specify that it’s a reciprocated love. I think that this ironic and poetical connection between naives and wise guys conforms quite well to me. Obviously I go with the fools. Probably this is the reason why I continue loving Trilly and Bamby, in the childish Walt Disney’s illustrations.
