About The Artwork
I got inspired by greek mythology, by the antinomy of "hero" and "monster", by the contrast of opposites. I first started with one painting, up left, and then gradually, completed the double triptych, in the next 2 years. Achilles is almost hollow, and the light comes from behind, and passes through, while Medusa is carnal, flashy, and the light reflects of her! He was putting himself on a pedestal, but when looking at her, turned into stone. Luckilly he we still vulnerabile and reminded him of this mortallity, but also his human side. The pedestal is half stone, half glass, and with the inverted perspective, he is shown in eternity, în all moments with no time, instead of just one spot. The arrow symbolises the second triptych, while the dandelion the first one.
