About The Artwork
I wanted to conjure the feeling of a warm summer day looking across a pond. I spent a lot of time detailing the folds in the lily pads, the curves in the plant that collect water and I added fish for more life in the water. This painting came from a trip to "Shady Lakes" in Albuquerque, N.M. Most people come to fish but my interest is always in the lilies. My hope is that each time the viewer sees the painting he sees something he hasn't noticed before. My paintings are complex!

I have been painting since I was a small child and never had any other ambition in mind other than being an artist. I grew up close to New York and so I spent time as a child in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MOMA and the Guggenheim, among others. It shaped me as an artist. I started painting in oil at age 12. Through my adult life I have worked part-time jobs to allow time in the studio. I love time alone and working with the magic of oil paint. Nature is my inspiration. I want to bring nature into people's homes.
