"Anna's Red" Hellebore Painting

Painted on-site at Boerner Botanical Gardens in Wisconsin. Features a close-up view of a Hellebore or "Lenten Rose" flower of the variety named "Anna's Red". The flower features petals in a deep rich red with a stunning light yellow center. Leaves ad buds frame the flower. Touches of iridescent magenta and green paint enhance the highlights of the petals. The background is created with drips and splashes of water-based casein paint, and glazed over with oil. The flower is painted with both brush and palette knife, and the shapes of the petals are enhanced by the texture of the paint. Framed in a 3.5" wide wood frame with black finish. May be purchased unframed by request.
