About The Artwork
Painted on a custom built surface made from off-cuts taken from my lumber pile, this painting is one of a group which are intended to be shown together as part of an enormous multi-panel work which is, conceptually, a collage within a collage; but also function as individual, stand-alone pieces. The jigsaw puzzle is a recurring motif in my work, and also functions as a good metaphor for my art. The span of styles and ideas makes viewing my art similar to the act of putting together a jigsaw puzzle - piecing together the different themes and links to form a storyline, and puzzle out the meanings. This work is unframed, as the paint continues over the sides in aesthetically pleasing drips over white gesso. Glow in the dark stars are embedded in the paint layers, shining through in the dark. A satin, UV protective acrylic varnish is applied to the surface and the sides. Hanging hardware is attached.
