About The Artwork

We are fortunate to live in a country where wildlife can still be seen in its natural environment (game parks). To see one of the big five, the lion, remains a thrill and to see a killing even more so. This was a compilation of photographs taken in the Kruger National Park. The painting tries to capture the pride and power of the lion and lioness. The painting is in a private collection in Cape Town.

I am an practicing architect with my wife- SM!T ARCHITECTS (www.smitarchitects.co.za) I am also a professor in architecture- teaching masters students in architecture, University of the Free State, South Africa. However, I've been drawing and painting since childwood and do it as a hobby today. Inspiration is mainly derived from the natural landscape as well as character studies. Similar to architectural investigations, I like exploring abstract forms and experiments.
