About The Artwork

original painting on cotton canvas stretched on 2 cm deep pine wood stretcher 80 cm wide 60 cm high 2 cm deep On the back about 10 cm canvas overhanging every direction, therefore can be re-stretched to deeper edge stretcher if needed so. I painted with oil painting. At places I applied it light and thin and at places it gets thick and textural. I painted this piece in 2012 Title: Bamboo flowering Bamboo plant flowers once in a century. Yet, even those bamboo colonies who belong to the same species but live miles and miles away, they flower at the same time, together. I find this fascinating, touching, mystical and transcendent. We used to have lots of bamboos in our garden. The kind which grows 4 metres tall and every week a new shoot appears. Strong majestic plant. I painted this work when living in India.

Kondor Valeria is a Hungarian visual artist working mainly in watercolour and water-based media. Her images depict a personal mythology, relationships, connections, dependence, independence and most of all a world where eveything has a pair and the entities belong to each other. She creates abstract landscapes where she explores the human-plant parellels. The viewer can walk around the painting, like in a garden or on a map...even if the painting is created with minimalist details. Valeria holds a BFA from drawing and visual communication. She is also a qualified art teacher for age group 3 to 18. Valeria has family ties to India where she lived for over a decade and now she lives and works with her family in Hungary.
