About The Artwork
I get to travel often, and many times, when just walking, I come across scenes and images that feed future paintings. In this case, I came to visit friends in NYC and had an afternoon where I walked around the Lower East Side taking pictures. As evening fell, and the light took on that smokey bluish tone, I saw across the street the frame of a window with yellow golden light and a man simply having a haircut. I caught the eye of the barber at that moment who saw me outside across the street and gave me a two finger peace sign, almost as if to say -- yup, okay, go for it. I snapped about a dozen pictures knowing that the glow and light and the way their figures were framed would make a perfect portrait for that part of the city on an early winter's evening.
