About The Artwork

Have you ever had a pair of shoes that you wore for years that became like an old friend you could always count on being there for you? Then, when it came time to retire them, you just didn’t want to throw them in the trash? Well, that’s the inspiration of this painting - these are my actual shoes that I wore for many decades of summers on the beach and while working in my studio. I just couldn’t bring myself to throw them out so what better way to honor them than including them in a piece of art! This mixed media painting in on wood and ready to hang - it floats off the wall 1.5 inches.

Tony A. Blue - American Artist, known by some as the Warren Zevon of contemporary painters. "My acrylics/mixed media work is on wood or canvas and my style leans to the expressionistic side - even my landscapes. Often I like additional texture in my work and sometimes I also add other elements, i.e. copper, barbed wire, newsprint, etc. - it helps me get to the heart of the matter. Painting gives me a means to express myself and what is on my mind, even if it's a little bizarre and/or whimsical at the time! Since I was born and raised in America, many times my work translates to an American persuasion. However, the way the world is shrinking, I expect the rest of the planet may also relate to the message that's in much of my work. One thing for sure, it's a crazy mixed up world we live in - I think I'm, going to need a lot more paint."
