"The inspiration for my work was the forest fires that occurred in the region where I lived in 2018. This great devastation became my source of inspiration. Additionally, I can say that I was inspired by the photo paintings created by the German painter Gerhard Richter in the post-World War II era. Here, nature became my figure. As the fire advanced, those that did not burn watched with great helplessness. Motionless trees. For many living creatures, there was no escape. They watched until they themselves burned. The living areas in the forests I had been photographing since 2015 had disappeared. Over six years, the ordinary nature photos I had taken in the region gained significance because they were gone. And what remained in my hands were the ashes brought by my daughter from the fire site. The paint used in all the pictures in this series contained the ashes of the forest. They were the ashes, the only remaining composite from those funerals. Acrylic paint containing the ashes of the forest was used in all the pictures in this series. All the pictures first existed with living backgrounds, then I burned them. The closest layer to us survived only until it burned as well."
