About The Artwork

This painting is composed of two parts (diptych) and accumulate multiple layers of acrylic superimposed over 5 years of work (2009/2014), they give it the texture and the support for the final form that finally results in a burying repetitions of shapes and designs, like a palimpsest that is erased and re-written as many times as necessary. The final design results in the presentation of an architectural structure that originates from the deconstruction of an wood shed.

These works are characterized by a dynamic interplay of light and shadow, often created through the layering of paint and the use of gestural brushstrokes. My approach to abstraction is informed by a wide range of influences from the artificial or man-made world, including the built environment such as cities, buildings, and infrastructures. My paintings are often composed of multiple layers that create a sense of depth and complexity. I often incorporate a variety of media and techniques into them, including acrylic paint, Indian ink, and collage elements. Many of my paintings feature gestural marks and lines that suggest movement, energy, and time while others are more restrained and minimal in their approach. My abstract paintings invite viewers to engage with the emotional and sensory aspects of art and to explore the many layers of meaning and interpretation that can be found within each piece. Many of my paintings have titles that refer to architectural concepts, scientific terms, and poetic metaphors. This suggests that my interest is not only in the visual qualities of aesthetics but also in their underlying principles and theories. Altogether, while the work is certainly abstract in the sense that it does not depict recognizable objects or scenes, it is also deeply informed by my interest in formal language. This gives the paintings and drawings a unique character and sets them apart from the more purely gestural or expressive forms of abstract painting.
