About The Artwork

'Blooms of Remembrance' was inspired by a floral arrangement put together for a special person. It's an expression in remembrance of people who have come into our lives critical times, who we have limited interaction with but affect our lives profoundly. In my case, it was to remember a doctor who cared briefly for my mother with the pregnancy she was sure of losing due to extensive fibroids in her womb- that pregnancy turned out to be me. It was sort of a full circle moment to be a part of the construction team that helped build the hospital that he started, and to work with his son as he continues his father's legacy. The radiant yellow bloom is the star of this painting, accentuated even more by the white blooms painted expressively.

With a focus on open-impressionism/fauvism, I make art - so you can escape into a world filled with COLOR and experience joy. Over here in Ghana, West Africa, the ever changing social landscapes are an endless source of inspiration. I am inclined to offer an accurate representation of what is, and references for my work are not staged. Its my way of offering topics for discussion that delves into what currently is (our present state) and why we are the way we are. The larger part of my work involves teaching people the Bible, so I share resources I have with them, in hopes it helps to improve their lives. Over the years, I have seen many benefit from this work. When I get back to my studio, I recreate these precious shared moments with whatever I have available: acrylic, oils, pastels on cardstock or when I can afford it, canvas. You can look forward to seeing more of such, as well as behind the scenes pictures. Think of it as our shared travel diary! Enjoy!
